CaixaForum is a cultural center managed by the “la Caixa” Foundation and located at Paseo del Prado No. 36 in Madrid. In July 2021 it was included in the World Heritage List, prepared by UNESCO, as part of the heritage Paseo del Prado and Buen Retiro, Landscape of Arts and Sciences, called in short Landscape of Light. The center is located in one of the few examples of industrial architecture in the historic center of the city: the former Mediodía Power Plant, dating from the early 20th century. The refurbishment project was developed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron and the facility was inaugurated in 2008.
