The Madrid Railway Museum was opened to the public on December 19, 1984. Its headquarters is the old Delicias station, inaugurated in 1880, one of the clearest and most representative examples of industrial architecture in Spain. Its fundamental missions are to make known the historical evolution of the railroad and its role in the construction of our economy and contemporary society, to promote the knowledge and use of rail transport, to promote its research and to enhance the value of the railway cultural heritage, all with a public service vocation.
